Ocean Optics Offers New Software Tool for Emission SpectroscopySoftware Simplifies Peak Finding and Line IdentificationDunedin, Fla., June 2004 – SpecLine Software from Ocean Optics is a powerful new tool
designed for analysis of spectral features such as atomic emission lines
and molecular bands. By applying various filter functions and comparing
sample peaks with an extensive library of atomic and molecular emission
lines, users can easily identify unknown peaks and find specific emission
lines and molecular bands. SpecLine is especially useful for emission spectroscopy
applications and plasma monitoring. In fact, SpecLine can be used as a
standalone package with Ocean Optics miniature modular spectrometers or as
part of the Ocean Optics PlasCalc-2000
Plasma Monitoring System. SpecLine supports a variety of functions, including setting
the analysis range, smoothing the spectra and changing the display
parameters. Up to 12 separate spectra can be combined for comparative
purposes, while parameters for peak location and identification are
accessible in a Periodic Table screen. Simply choose an element, and then
select from the library menu of emission lines and/or compounds that
contains that particular element. The extensive SpecLine database also can be used for
simulation of selected elements or compounds.
After such elements or compounds are selected their line positions
in the spectrum are displayed, for a quick visual comparison to real-time
spectra collected by the spectrometer.
