Annual Service Package

Ocean Optics offers Annual Service Packages (ASP) for many of its spectrometer models. For users who purchased an Ocean Optics spectrometer prior to April 1, 2008, an ASP was an economical way to extend the standard one-year service on your Ocean Optics spectrometer.

Beginning April 1, 2008 Ocean Optics has raised the bar on service by including, free of charge, a 3-Year Warranty on all new Ocean Optics miniature fiber optic spectrometers – regardless of the application – from manufacturing defects. By purchasing an ASP after April 1, you are adding a valuable service package to maintain your scientific instrument investment.

This service package does not cover rechargeable batteries, light bulbs, memory cards or any other consumable parts or accessories. 8% of total order
ASP-JAZ-R This is a 1-year service renewal program for customers who have an ASP-JAZ in place. This service plan does not cover rechargeable batteries, light bulbs, memory cards or other consumable parts or accessories. 10% of total order
ASP-JAZ-R-E This is a 2-year service plan renewal program for customers who have an ASP-JAZ in place. This program does not cover rechargeable batteries, light bulbs, memory cards or consumables. 12% of total order
ASP-CHEM This standard ASP is available when you purchase one of the following Ocean Optics spectrometers: CHEM4-UV-FIBER, CHEM4-VIS-FIBER, CHEMUSB4-UV/VIS or CHEMUSB4-VIS/NIR. This program provides a 1-year  wavelength calibration, preventive maintenance service and privileged customer status plan for all our CHEM series spectrometers. Does not include replacement bulbs. $300$300

Concierge Annual Factory Calibration & Preventive Maintenance Service

Our concierge service enables you to keep your spectrometer working under its originally (mechanical, electronic and optical) designed conditions to ensure long-term service reliability and performance.

As an ASP contract holder, our TTS group will notify you when your spectrometer is due for its yearly calibration and preventive maintenance service. Service includes the following:

  • Re-focusing and alignment (if necessary)
  • Wavelength calibration
  • Linearity calibration
  • Optical resolution evaluation
  • Stray light measurement
  • Baseline uniformity evaluation
  • Noise analysis
  • Firmware upgrades
  • Cleaning and light tightening of the unit

A certification report is included along with a diskette containing calibration and linearity coefficients. In the case of USB2000 or HR2000 Spectrometers, these coefficients are loaded in the unit's EPROM.

Spectrometer channel(s) covered by the ASP may be returned to Ocean Optics, Inc. any time during the 1-year period commencing with the ASP invoice date for a one-time complete factory calibration and certification. You should notify Ocean Optics of your intent prior to shipping the unit. 

Mark all packages sent to Ocean Optics with the ASP service number, as well as contact information including name, phone number, e-mail address and a complete return shipping address. Ocean Optics will in all cases attempt to return the unit as quickly as possible, typically within one week. If repairs or modifications are necessary, the time required for calibration and certification may be longer. Ocean Optics pays the cost of shipping the unit back to the user.

Extended SpectraSuite Software Support

SpectraSuite licenses include one year of free unlimited upgrades through the SpectraSuite Update Center. It also includes one year of unlimited support by contacting our Total Technical Service Team either by phone or by e-mail at techsupport@oceanoptics.com. 

The ASP contract not only extends this year of support for the SpectraSuite software but also provides personalized support for other software related issues such as firmware re-loading, EPROM reprogramming and on-site spectrometer calibrations through software.

Labor Charge Waiver for Factory Modifications

ASP service holders may arrange for changes in the configuration of their optical benches that require factory installation of parts and accessories. The usual labor charge for this service will be waived (the annual Factory Calibration & Certification will be performed at the same time as the spectrometer upgrade). The service holder will still need to purchase any optical bench accessories and options. Optical bench accessories and parts cannot be re-used, and no credit is offered for their trade-in. The services covered include 1) removing installing a new component, 2) installing a component, 3) setting a new wavelength range and 4) perform the annual calibration and preventive maintenance package.

Preferred Pricing on Trade-Ins and Allowances for New Equipment

Service holders will receive advanced notice and preferred pricing on all hardware and software upgrades, new instruments and other special promotions. The following preferred pricing is now in effect:

* Trade in any Ocean Optics ADC500 or Computer Boards, Inc. DAS16jr or DAS330 A/D cards, or the National Instruments DAQ-700 PCMCIA A/D card, toward the purchase of an ADC1000-USB or ADC2000-PCI+ card.
