Flow Cell Kit for Flow Injection Analysis

The FIA-1000-Z Flow Cell Kit is a convenient, low-cost fluid handling system that couples to Ocean Optics high-sensitivity miniature fiber optic spectrometers and light sources for rapid, quantitative analysis of solutions. The FIA-1000-Z system consists of a two-channel peristaltic pump, a 1-cm path length fiber optic flow cell, a fittings kit and Windows-based operating software. A pair of optical fibers or special bifurcated assembly (priced separately) completes the package.

In the Z-SMA flow cell setup (item FIA-1000-Z), the peristaltic pump delivers precise volumes of solutions for continuous or stopped-flow spectroscopic readings. In addition, the pump can be operated manually or with a desktop or notebook PC, in either the continuous-flow or stopped-flow modes.

The Z-SMA flow cell has an optical path length of 10 mm, an inner diameter of 1.5 mm, and is available in high-grade stainless steel, PEEK, PlexiglasÒ, Teflon and Ultem.

The cell features fused-silica windows that allow for signal transmission from ~170 nm - 2 mm (with an Ocean Optics spectrometer, the practical use of the cell is limited to 200-1100 nm).

The Z-SMA setup uses standard SMA-terminated optical fibers -- a pair of either 200 mm or 400 mm -- that connect to an Ocean Optics USB Series Miniature Fiber Optic Spectrometer and light source to create a fully integrated analytical instrument. Also available is an adjustable Z cell, which uses a pair of specially terminated optical fibers.
