Reflection/Backscattering Probes for Solutions & Powders

Ocean Optics fiber optic reflection/backscattering probes couple to our spectrometers and light sources to create small-footprint optical-sensing systems for measuring reflection and fluorescence in liquids and powders.

Our standard and angled reflection probes both have a six-around-one fiber design. The angled probes use a 30 window to remove specular reflection effects when the probe is immersed in powders or dense solutions.

We offer the angled probe with two different diameter fibers, 200 m and 400 m, and in laboratory-grade and premium-grade assembly options.

Our reflection/backscattering probes are based on a natural close-packing arrangement of optical fibers. Typically, the arrangement is a tight bundle of seven optical fibers -- six illumination fibers around one read fiber. This arrangement ensures parallel orientation of the fibers. The center or read fiber splits from the other six fibers and couples to a spectrometer. The outer six illumination fibers connect to the light source.
