Variable-angle Reflection Sampling System

RSS-VA Variable-angle Sampling System

The RSS-VA Variable-angle Reflection System is an opto-mechanical device that couples to spectrometers and light sources to measure specular reflection of optical substrates from 200-2000 nm, at varying angles of incidence.

The RSS-VA is available for $1470.

The RSS-VA's chamber has two ports for SMA 905-terminated optical fibers -- one to illuminate the sample, the other to collect the signal and send it to the spectrometer -- and a 3-point surface mount for holding the sample in a fixed position.

Inside the chamber, optics mounted on a carrier can be adjusted to set the angle of incidence from ~10° to ~50°; a thumbscrew holds the optical assembly at a fixed angle. When used with Ocean Optics spectroscopic systems and specular reflectance standards, the RSS-VA is an especially versatile variable-angle device for characterizing a variety of optical substrates, especially metallic and dielectric coatings.

To measure optics 10 mm x 3 mm or smaller with the RSS-VA, we offer the RSS-VA-ADP Sample Holder for $104.
