USB2000-UV-VIS Spectrometer

The USB2000-UV-VIS Miniature Fiber Optic Spectrometer is a small-footprint, plug-and-play version of our revolutionary S2000 Miniature Fiber Optic Spectrometer.

  • Preconfigured optical bench

  • 200-850 nm

  • No external power requirements

  • Simplified spectrometer-computer interface

The USB2000-UV-VIS  plugs into the USB port of any desktop or notebook PC, eliminating the need for separate analog-to-digital converters and interface cabling. Users can connect the spectrometer directly to a desktop PC without having to open the PC chassis or search for available IRQs and Input/output ranges. The USB2000-UV-VIS Spectrometer is pre-set to a 200-850 nm wavelength range (click here for grating efficiency) and comes with a UV2 Detector Upgrade, a multi-bandpass order-sorting detector coating and a 25 mm entrance slit for optical resolution to 1.5 nm (FWHM). Operating software is also included.

A Note About Our UV Coating For Our CCD Detectors

Our competition sometimes resorts to technical inuendo to disparage our exceptional products. Contrary to suggestions made by competitors, the fluorophore used in the UV coatings for our CCD detectors does not degrade with time.

Facilitated Operation

With the USB2000-UV-VIS, getting started is as easy as connecting the tiny spectrometer to the USB port of the computer. In addition, the spectrometer does not require an external power supply -- it draws its power from the computer. In fact, the USB port can be used to power light sources that connect to the spectrometer.

Modular Design

The USB2000-UV-VIS is pre-set at Ocean Optics in a configuration appropriate for most absorbance and reflectance experiments. Users can choose from our complete line of spectroscopic accessories to use with the USB2000. Most accessories have SMA connectors for application flexibility. Changing the sampling system is as easy as unscrewing a connector and adding new components or accessories, such as  light sources, sampling holders, filter holders, flow cells, fiber optic probes and sensors, collimating lenses, attenuators, diffuse reflectance standards, integrating spheres and an extensive line of optical fibers.

In addition, Ocean Optics offers two snap-on, direct-attach accessories created just for the USB2000-series spectrometers. The USB-ISS-VIS is a light source/cuvette holder combo for absorbance measurements of solutions, while the USB-FHS is a light source/filter holder for transmission measurements of optical filters. These two accessories are optimized for measurements from 390-950 nm, and each is available for only $499.

Serial Port Option

The USB2000 also has an RS-232 serial port for interfacing to PCs and PLCs. Serial port use requires an external power supply and 9-pin serial cable (USB-ADP-PC).

Optional Battery Pack

A pair of Lithium Ion cells makes the USB2000-UV-VIS Spectrometer field-portable. The USB-BP Battery Pack delivers 225 mA at 5 Volts -- enough juice to power a light source and the USB2000 for 8 hours continuously, or a USB-LS-450 LED module and the USB2000 for 12 hours continuously. Included is a battery charger for replenishing spent batteries.

LED Add-on Drive Module

We've developed a multi-purpose LED drive module for USB2000 Spectrometers that has a built-in 24-bit A/D converter to accommodate a 100 ohm Resistance Temperature Device for temperature measurements (temperature probe priced separately). Conceived for use with Fiber Optic Oxygen Sensors, the USB-LS-450 LED Light Source Module also features on-board memory to store temperature and oxygen calibration coefficients and is available with an optional add-on that provides 4-20 mA output for process and other applications.
