LIBS Multichannel Spectrometer

Ocean MX Multichannel Spectrometer
Ideal for LIBS Elemental Analysis
Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) enables rapid elemental analysis of solids, liquids, and gases with minimal sample preparation. By using a high-energy pulsed laser to generate a microplasma on the sample surface, LIBS captures elemental emission spectra that reveal both material and elemental composition.
The Ocean MX Multi-Channel Spectrometer is an excellent choice for LIBS systems, combining broad spectral coverage, high-speed acquisition, and simultaneous multi-channel detection. This architecture enables efficient capture of elemental emission signatures across a wide wavelength range, supporting accurate and repeatable materials analysis.Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) is a type of atomic emission spectroscopy. It allows qualitative and quantitative analysis of almost all elements in solid, liquid and gas phase matrices. Unlike conventional detection methods such as ICP-OES or XRF, LIBS eliminates the need for complex sample preparation during the detection process.

Built for High-Performance LIBS Systems
The Ocean MX Multi-Channel Spectrometer is designed for demanding LIBS applications, providing broad spectral coverage from approximately 180-1100 nm through four or seven synchronized spectrometer channels. Built on Ocean Optics Ocean HR2 spectrometers, Ocean MX enables users to configure a system that balances wavelength coverage, resolution, and detection performance for their specific application.
A high-precision synchronization clock coordinates all channels for accurate delayed acquisition, allowing the system to capture complete atomic emission spectra at the optimal point of plasma evolution. This synchronized architecture improves measurement accuracy and supports reliable elemental analysis across complex samples.
Ocean MX also features flexible triggering and integration capabilities, including multiple digital I/O connections that can be programmed to control acquisition timing and coordinate system events. It supports a variety of triggering modes, including laser-triggered, dual-laser, manual, and spectrometer-triggered operation, making it easy to integrate with a wide range of lasers, plasma excitation sources, and custom analytical instruments.
